STATE OF DIVERSITY 2018 REPORT

In 2017, as I started working on issues of inclusion in social impact / international development, I was met with skepticism. Many believed that we because we worked in a "social" sector, we did not have the same issues as tech, finance and other more commercial sectors.

But we know that this isn't true. So, in order to help spark the necessary conversations, I worked with an amazing team to collect data and analyze diversity among leadership teams in global social impact (otherwise known as international development.)

What we found wasn't great.

WOMEN OF COLOR IN LEADERSHIP

This year, we looked at what the state of diversity was in terms of women of color in leadership roles. We found that only 5% of global social impact / international development organizations have a women of color in leadership position.
